BEING A DAD AND CO-FOUNDER OF TAJINEBANANE
THE INTERVIEW WITH MARVIN CAVAILLÉ
On the occasion of Father’s Day, we handed the mic to Marvin, co-director and co-founder of Tajinebanane, but above all, dad to little Ben. Through this interview, Marvin talks to us about his connection to parenthood, how it has changed his role at Tajinebanane, and how it shaped the way he thinks about a family-focused brand, especially having become a dad along the way. 👨👦
How has your vision been inspired by becoming a father at Tajinebanane?
Marvin: “I’ve always been around kids. I became an uncle at 14, I was an au pair for a year, I did babysitting… Pretty much, I always knew I was going to have children. That’s why I was able to start Tajinebanane without being a dad yet, because I’ve always been immersed in parenthood! I remember Alison and I preparing our first t-shirt orders while Lou was crawling around the boxes. So I never felt any disconnect launching Tajinebanane before becoming a dad.”
Has becoming a dad yourself changed your perception of the product?
Marvin: “It hasn’t necessarily changed my perception of our catalog, because I was already convinced by the quality and practicality of our products.”
As a co-founder of Tajinebanane and a dad, do you manage to fully enjoy your family?
Marvin: “I’m glad I waited to have a child, because I feel like I wouldn’t have enjoyed my family as much at the beginning of Tajinebanane when it was still hectic. Today, with a bit of organization and my partner’s support, I’m lucky to be able to see him every day.”
What’s it like to see your son, Ben, dressed in Tajinebanane?
Marvin: “It brings me a lot of pride, since I didn’t always have the chance to wear our clothes myself. Especially the Su-Père t-shirt, which I didn’t feel legitimate wearing before. And seeing my son dressed in Tajinebanane is like seeing the products come to life!”
Would you like to say a few words for all the dads passing by?
Marvin: “For the final word, I want to wish a happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the community! We don’t talk about you much, but we know you’re here. That’s actually why we want to develop a men’s range, because you are also an integral part of Tajinebanane, so happy Father’s Day to you!”
And you, other dads? We asked Marvin to share a bit about his experience of fatherhood, but we’d also love to hear your stories. Whether you’ve been a dad for two months, two years, or two decades, tell us: how do you balance your professional life and family life?
Once again, happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the Tajinebanane family. 💛
