Will my baby easily accept a bottle of breast milk?
In most cases, yes!
But remember, the bottle isn’t the only option. If you’d like your baby to continue breastfeeding afterwards (for example, if you’re pumping temporarily), you can also offer milk with a spoon, cup, or syringe. These alternatives help maintain baby’s natural sucking reflex.
When it comes to bottles, it sometimes takes a few tries to find:
- the right flow (slow flow is usually best),
- the right milk temperature,
- and the right timing.
No matter how it’s given, breast milk remains a comforting and familiar anchor for your baby.
You can also make bottle-feeding a warm, bonding moment by holding your baby close, in your arms, just like breastfeeding. And if your baby refuses the bottle at first, don’t panic! Try another method (spoon, syringe, cup…) or have someone else offer it (like Dad). Patience and flexibility will be your greatest allies.
